The University of Melbourne deployed Automation Anywhere’s Robotic Process Automation (RPA) technology to reduce manual work and automate a range of administrative processes across student admissions, faculty administration, and supplier tracking.
The deployed software bots now automate the entry of all data and attachments for new admission applications, and the university has slowly expanded its automation capabilities for staff across other faculties.
This has allowed the University of Melbourne to increase the efficiency of critical business processes, boost staff engagement, and improve customer experience for its teachers and student body.
Much has already been said and written about the infiltration of robotic process automation (RPA) and intelligent automation (IA) technologies into the workforce. In truth, it’s taken the corporate world a while to test, trust and commit to automation at work.
To understand how far APAC/ANZ markets have advanced towards acting on these opportunities, the Shared Services and Outsourcing Network (SSON) surveyed the market and found that across the region corporations were forward thinking in building for scale, trusting technology and recognising the need to incorporate robotics into both IT infrastructure and enterprise strategy.
This report explains how enterprises across APAC/ANZ are staying ahead of the global wave of RPA, the most popular solutions they are choosing, who the preferred consultants or 'integrators' are, the challenges, and how the digital workforce is being integrated into the human one.
Global corporate enterprise AI practitioners are clearly still dealing with infrastructure issues related to talent and technology. End-to-end processes remain stubbornly carbon-based. Rule-based automation is truly not yet globally scaled across the majority of organizations.
Double the AI
And yet, the AI & Intelligent Automation Network members went from 21%, having deployed Intelligent Enterprise solutions to over 44% in just one year’s time.
Over 4/5 expect to deploy AI in under two years
The stated goal for deployment is just under 83% by the end of 2020. Considering the fact that they’ve essentially got two years, and those ranks have doubled in one year – doubling again in two years is achievable. Incidentally, that same number was only 67% a year ago.
50% expect to be established, globally scaling or refining AI in under two years
Global corporate enterprise is in fact slowly but surely transforming into the intelligent enterprise of tomorrow. Having said that, it will be

Switching to a managed services model where clients pay you a fixed monthly rate to manage their entire IT infrastructure. If done correctly, this transition can be a lifeline to reliable revenue in a shifting market. Making the transition from an unsteady break-fix model to a proactive managed services model will require a systematic plan with well-thought-out steps that range from understanding your target market to implementing essential automation. If you’re considering becoming a managed service provider (MSP), these six steps can help. As you read through them, keep in mind that the best strategy is to have a strategy.
The goal of automation is not to eliminate or replace human labor, but to increase productivity and quality beyond what is possible with your existing team, so as to realize economies of scale and predictable quality levels. With automation, your team is able to manage more endpoints, because automation eliminates routine and mundane responsibilities or efforts, giving your technicians the time to focus on higher priority and more complex tasks. In addition, as a managed service provider (MSP), you receive a fixed fee for your services. As a result, you need to provide service in the most efficient way possible while delivering the highest levels of consistency and quality. Building automation into your IT services business will enable you to do so. In this eBook, you’ll learn tips and best practices to successfully incorporate automation into your IT services business, including:

Fraud is a serious concern for the communications industry, with proceeds and services used by organised crime and terrorist networks. Whilst reliable statistics are difficult to come by, industry association Communications Fraud Control Association (CFCA) estimates the total global fraud loss at around $29bn annually. Of this, over $7bn is attributed to subscription fraud and account takeover.
In an industry which is undergoing widespread digital transformation to streamline customer journeys and reduce operating costs through automation, preventing fraud is critical. Learn More

Limited visibility has tethered CIOs' success in both IT and business. However, using federated CMDB technology, CIOs can view the complete IT infrastructure and the entire lifecycle of a business service.
Effective workload automation that provides complete management level visibility into real-time events impacting the delivery of IT services is needed by the data center more than ever before. The traditional job scheduling approach, with an uncoordinated set of tools that often requires reactive manual intervention to minimize service disruptions, is failing more than ever due to todays complex world of IT with its multiple platforms, applications and virtualized resources.
A recent survey of CIOs found that over 75% want to develop an overall information strategy in the next three years, yet over 85% are not close to implementing an enterprise-wide content management strategy. Meanwhile, data runs rampant, slows systems, and impacts performance. Hard-copy documents multiply, become damaged, or simply disappear.
There are success stories of businesses that have implemented Business Service Management (BSM) with well-documented, bottom-line results. What do these organizations know that their discouraged counterparts don't?
This Executive White Paper, sponsored by Pitney Bowes Marketing Solutions, a provider of web-based marketing automation solutions, examines the competitive advantages offered by marketing automation portals and the potential impact of these types of portals on marketing campaigns deployed in complex, rapidly evolving markets.
