The personal cloud is the most persistent data loss threat to the enterprise today because many employees use their own cloud services to store work documents. Traditionally, content security solutions functionally link security and storage which requires the migration of work documents to a new content storage repository in order to enforce security policies. This increases complexity by creating more repositories for the enterprise to manage. Most importantly, this approach does not solve the personal cloud problem because individual users continue to store their work documents, for convenience, in cloud services that IT cannot secure.
The migration off Windows Server 2003 is an opportunity for a datacenter “do-over” – a technology infrastructure transformation with implications for business innovation. It’s an opportunity to gain competitive advantage over industry peers, to meet application service levels faster and provide better overall capability, and to make yourself more valuable to your organization. Download this paper to better understand why these aspirations and goals should be at the heart of your migration project.
Your migration is also an opportunity for a “data center do-over” that could include virtualization optimization, cloud adoption, Active Directory cleanup, and server and storage updates. After all, the preparation and process for implementing these advances in IT capability are exactly the same as for an OS migration.
Data center migrations are often complex and risky. These best practices will help I&O leaders invest the appropriate amount of time and money into planning, execution and testing in order to protect the business and maximize the chances of a successful data center migration.
In considering the four principal options of data center modernization, keep in mind that each option need not be treated as a separate and distinct approach. Data center stakeholders may want to combine options in order to better accommodate a particular migration timeline. Or cautious executives may want to simply dabble with the outsourcing option by piloting only a few select applications while still maintaining a core corporate data center. The key critical success factor is the recognition that data center modernization is not a one-time fi x, but rather a critical piece of an ongoing strategy to better service customers.
Most successful data center migration projects share similar practices, such as expertise, preparation, management, execution, communication and business alignment. The purpose of this research is not to provide an extensive examination of each one of these practices. Rather, it is to provide a pragmatic list of best practices. This list was derived from observations of numerous Gartner clients involved in data center migration projects over the last six years.
All enterprises need to have mitigation solutions in place. Information security is vital in the workplace and DDoS has become more complex over time. Determine whether services are the best option for primary protection through this whitepaper.

As cloud deployments accelerate, there's no question that Federal agencies are reaping the benefits – improved agility, less IT complexity, and greater collaboration through shared services. But, while the benefits are clear, concerns around data stewardship and management can stop migrations in their tracks.
So how are Federal agencies dealing with the control challenge? To find out, MeriTalk surveyed 153 Federal IT professionals closely involved in their agency's cloud implementations.

Not long ago, the biggest concern for IT decision makers considering moving workloads to the cloud was security. That’s no longer the case. Today, the main obstacle to cloud adoption is different but familiar: the pain of migrating data.
Traditional data migration causes major headaches:
• Hours or days of downtime while servers replicate and stakeholders verify functionality
• Data loss and migration failures due to inadequate tools and inability to test
• Key internal resources diverted from strategic initiatives

How can enterprises overcome the issues that come with traditional data warehousing? Despite the business value that data warehouses can deliver, too often they fall short of expectations. They take too long to deliver, cost too much to build and maintain, and cannot keep pace with changing business requirements.
If this all rings a bell, check out Attunity’s knowledge brief on data warehouse automation with Attunity Compose. The solution automates the design, build, and deployment of data warehouses, data marts and data hubs, enabling more agile and responsive operation. The automation reduces time-consuming manual coding, and error-prone repetitive tasks. Read the knowledge brief to learn more about your options.
"Today’s data centers are being asked to do more at less expense and with little or no disruption to company operations. They’re also expected to run 24x7, handle numerous new application deployments and manage explosive data growth. Data storage limitations can make it difficult to meet these stringent demands.
Faced with these challenges, CIOs are discovering that the “rip and replace” disruptive migration method of improving storage capacity and IO performance no longer works. Access this white paper to discover a new version of NetApps storage operating environment. Find out how this software update eliminates many of the problems associated with typical monolithic or legacy storage systems."
